What a joy it is to make beautiful wine with beautiful people coming together to make a difference. Our founders, Mark and Bill, combined their passion for wine, flying and health care by forming Wine into Wings, a non-profit 501(c)3 public benefit corporation. Doing business as Noble Hearts Cellars they attract like-minded people who join together, as an extended family, to celebrate life, family and friends around great wine and a common desire to help others.
Bill became a pilot at the age of 16. Since then he has flown more than 3000 hours… 90% of those hours as a volunteer pilot supporting Mexican Medical Ministries and Angel Flight West. Using his skills as a pilot to help others has been a lifelong passion. Bill began making wine in 2013 as an amateur winemaker. He developed his skills to a high level winning a Double Gold & Best of Class for his 2018 Rose of Pinot Noir at the California State Fair. Bill says that he lives his life “purpose driven”. He strives to live out his Christian faith through the process of turning wine into wings, providing free flights to people who need specialized medical care far from home. Bill serves as both pilot and managing winemaker overseeing production of our boutique wines with our partner wineries.
Mark is a Registered Nurse, private pilot, and former U.S. Army Armor Officer. Bill and Mark met over 30 years ago thru their love of aviation and flying into Baja Mexico. Mark and Bill completed a Trans-Pac sail to Hawaii together from California in 2005. Always a lover of wine, he returned from Hawaii and lives in an old farm house in the middle of a vineyard in Healdsburg California. One night sitting around the fire pit with Bill next to the vineyard he mused “I bet we can make some wine from these grapes and turn it into gas for the plane to fly Angel Flights”. Wine into Wings was born. Since then Mark has developed a network of growers and wineries in Sonoma who donate grapes and services to support Wine into Wings.
We have the opportunity to work with some amazing winemakers and grape growers.
